That makes sense, but I'm only talking about navigating through the site as follows:

Log onto Railwire
Click on "Show unread posts since last visit"
Click on a thread, e.g., this The Back Button thread
Review post(s)
To go back to the list of unread posts, I usually hit "back" here.  But, instead of going back, I'm taken to the top of the page of the thread.  In fact, it just did it in this thread, despite there only being two posts!

Note that when you click on a thread title in the "Show unread posts since last visit" page, you are forwarded to the last unread post. That's a bookmark. Check the URL; you will often see #new at the end. Unfortunately, that constitutes two navigation steps.

That wasn't the case until just recently.
My Railwire bookmark is to the "unread posts since last visit".  I usually just click on the little "NEW" doohickey taking me to the most recent posts to the thread.  When I hit the back button once, nothing happens (visibly), by hitting it a second time, I return to the unread posts, where I started.
This is only an issue on Safari for me, on my iPad or iPhone.  I use Firefox on my PC and work laptop and am unaffected.

I see the "issue" on my iPhone in fullscreen mode only.  I had assumed it was related to the virtual forward and back button.  There is no need to hit the back button twice in non-fullscreen mode when the buttons are visible at all times.

Quick-get the admin on it! :tommann:

When swiping back on the trackpad of my macbook the problem is the same;-( The first attempt leeds always to a blank site. Refresh or another swipe brings me to the site I want to go to.

That wasn't the case until just recently.

It was always the case from the standpoint of how the forum software functions. As to whether or not this has begun to pose an issue with certain browsers is another thing altogether. Mobile browsers in particular are evolving faster than the web itself.

Someone must be playing with this because my back button just stopped doing anything. If I right click and click "back" it works though. An hour ago it was fine.

If you are running Windoze then reboot (or the "three finger salute") cures lots of unexplained problems!  :D
