Cessna 172 in N scale

I know N scale vehicles are popular but what about scale private aircraft, as opposed to military or airliners? I'm working on the decals for a Shapeways Cessna 172 and will release them RTR, that is if model Railroaders ever have airplanes on their layout.

Here are a couple of photos of the first try. Obviously the decals don't fit quite right yet because I'm still working on the curvature of the fuselage. but by the time the kinks are worked out it will be a cool plane. The wingspan measures 2.70" and its pretty sturdy for FUD. The downside to that is they are not cheap from SW. The surface came out very nice but I still lightly filed/sanded it, then primered it white. When done it will have better markings all over including the rear flaps, laser cut propellers, and then a nice gloss coat.

Up next is the Cessna Bonanza.

FYI, the Bonanza is a Beechcraft model. Do the V-tail!

V tail is a classic but for anyone modeling a modern period ya have to have a Cirrus SR22. If it is a small grass strip then there has to be a Cub somewhere. Like the 172 though!

I stand corrected. I do have the V tail Bonanza but will (hopefully) soon have the Cessna 310 twin engine. Here are a couple of photos of the 310 in Z. Wow, is N so much easier to work with, I can actually see what I'm working on!!!





I can possibly get a Stearman so that it could be someone's crop duster...

Of course PNolan looking for a Dolphin helo. Is the Dolphin In Service when your cutter is in service(entry 1979) or do you need an HH3F Pelican(S61)?

Nice 310. My favorite early piston twin. Just looks fast. Look at a Q model though it has a longer nose and just looks "better"

These are pretty cool looking! I might be game for trying to fit one somewhere. Sicne everyone is tossing out suggestions, how about a Thrush aerial sprayer with radial or turboprop power?
