With all due respect to railroad museums, I feel like I am at a natural history museum seeing "stuffed animals" instead of being in nature seeing live animals or at least at a zoo to see the live animal. I will not try to defend the analogy, it is simply the way I feel. I love trains.

That is what I like about the WP museum, the only fencing is to keep you off the mainline.   Unless the engine or car is being restored and unsafe, visitors can climb on and poke around everything.  They also run a few cabooses and "vista" flats around the baloon track.  Visitors can ride in the cab too, or run the loco.

Fort Nelson Bridge trusses are now complete...

Since I am on a bridge building kick this summer I then jumped right into the Beatton River bridge.   Again, the Central Valley kits supplied the basic parts.  The first of three spans is nearing completion..



I am basically working off a few bad-angle photographs and known dimensions for this one so it is a bit of an act of faith.   Prototype location is very inaccessible so getting in there for a look may not be possible.

The Beatton River bridge will either be a diorama project or an as-yet-undisclosed expansion of the current layout.    I haven't yet decided

I'm not sure exactly where I will place it on the layout yet, but a piece of Lee Weldon's N scale Western Maryland Ry. Western Lines layout has found a new home on the Seaboard Central.  This structure was formerly the commissary building at the west end of the Ridgeley Yard on the WM.

Unfortunately, no.  The building is more of an office than a warehouse.  It won't make a good rail-served industry.  I wouldn't dare cut it up to add loading dock doors and ruin Lee's work.

I started work on a Milwaukee Road commuter train using the new MT paired window coaches.
The addition of 905 Z scale couplers makes a significant improvement in close coupling.
I know there are plenty of modelers here that have known this for years and although I have used Z couplers on several locomotives, this is my first application to passenger cars.
You learn something new every day
