Ngineering - gooseneck lamps ?

Does any one have any experiences or opinions with this product? Are they out of scale? http://www.ngineering.com/n_lighting_kits.htm. I have thought about trying these for years, but never pulled the trigger. Also, it seems a step below brain surgery to assemble.    Thanks

Those prices are absolutely insane.  I can't see many people buying those lights at those prices.  Heck, you can buy the whole building for that amount of money.

Found a lot of sources for LED's that are very similar to what they sell, only for a lot less money.  It took a lot or research and trial and error, but I got what I need in the correct color temperatures.

They have done their LED research and have some very nifty lighting boards.  Would have been cheaper to just buy from them, but then I wouldn't have a whole drawer of LED's.

I especially enjoy soldering wire to the nano LED's.

In looking at the price I thought the same thing until I read below the price the following...

"This lighting kit includes all tubing, lampshades, wire, LEDs and information necessary to fabricate 8 (eight) streetlights just like the one shown in the picture above."

That's $4.38 a light, which really isn't all that bad.

I haven't tried these yet but the other Ngineering products are top notch as well as the customer service. I spent a couple weeks back and forth trying to diagnose an issue with a ditch light module including getting a couple replacements sent to try out. Very helpful.

The price is for an 8 pack, not bad at all. You can also buy all the individual parts from the site as needed. He offers the LED's, tubing, lampshades and wire separately. Their Nano LED's are still the best I have found. The Micro (603's) I have been able to find in bulk for about 50 cents a piece. I have not found a good source for Nano's.

Nanos are SMD 0402 size LEDs.  Standard white ones are available from many sources, but I haven't found any warm white ones yet. But the Ngneering price is a bit much for me. I just use my secret clear amber paint mixture on standard white 0402 LEDs to make them look warm.

Call me a skeptic, but they don't list lumens or color temperature.  How do we know what they call warm white is the same as what we call warm white?  Listing the specs is everything. Makes for a level playing field.

I was hoping for a sherpa to step forward and guide me, but I guess no one has put one of these things together and lived to tell about it.    Atleast the website has good instructions on the assembly process.

I sure didn't see a link to the spec.  Thanks.  It looks like this is not a real bright LED.  That is to be expected with such a small size.  Operating voltage is very typical. 

Decent soldering temperature 350C.  You would have to be very careful soldering.  Good flux and a light touch with the soldering tip.  To long on the surface and the pad will lift.  How do I know that.  I always buy a few more than I need because I will lose a couple during soldering.

They can't list the color temperature because they take a white LED and put a warm white lens on it or they do a dip.

Peteski knows about dips. LOL  I referring to his secret formula.

Thanks DKS, no offense, but you don't count, you're skills aren't "normal". I forgot about the light, I love looking around that site and the other with all the animation. Very enjoyable.
