Atlas PS-1, release II

Also got some of the latest PS-1 along with my TOFCs, including eight exquisite New Havens.  My MTL boxcar fleet is about to get significantly smaller.

As a side note, the white Lehigh Valley car correctly sports a white roof.  The pilot model had an aluminum roof.  The Snowbird scheme looks spectacular, as does the Erie with aluminum roof and black ends.

Already!!
You must have 'insider trading'  :D
I've been trolling the online retailers hourly since the 15th!

You are going to renumber some of your NH PS1s or do your 'powers' extend to having additional numbers produced?
Cheers,
Scott

They started shipping Friday.  They probably will show up at MBK first, before the end of this week.

I wish.  :D  Going to renumber.

For those that are interested, MBK now has this release available now. Looks like they only received a dozen of each, and the first release is almost gone completely....

If they got the boxcars, watch for the TOFCs also.  They were in the same shipment.

Looks like Atlas did a great job on these models.
Anybody know what the build dates are on this latest batch? Hard to tell from the photos.
My cutoff date is Spring '51 ... maybe the New Haven and Jersey Central? Any of the other ones? C&O?
Thanks in advance, Otto

I don't have them in hand yet. :|
But the database you can download from http://steamerafreightcars.com/prototype/frtcars/protofrtcarsmain.html lists the build dates for the illustrated number series as the following:

NH       12.47
ERIE    02.54
CIL      04.53
TP&W  04.53
VTR     (not purchased as new?)
LV       09.50 (painted into the white scheme in 06/63)
WP      10.51

hope this helps!

Edit: Otto, I just reread your post and from the roadnames you mentioned, you may be looking at what will be the 3rd release with the 8' door. The release mentioned in this thread has 7' doors and includes the road names listed above.
For the 3rd release expected Dec 2013:

NYC    02.54
CNJ    10.57
RI      02.63
C&O   06.52   (repaint 2nd gen logo 04.64 - picture in color guide to C&O pp24)
D&H   08.56   (reweigh 06.67 - don't know if still original paint?)
SAL    03.52   (reweigh 08.66 - repaint, but don't know date?)
UP      09.57   (reweigh 04.60? - should have roller-bearing trucks)

Best I can do from grainy pics on the Atlas site...

Thank you Scott,
for taking the time. The 8' door versions are obviously "past my time"....
I do like the distinctive scripted NH car...that scheme shows up in many west coast photos.
Thanks again, Otto

FWIW: The first release had a few schemes that would fit your timeframe;
According to the database I'm using, Atlas made a couple of little boo-boos on the build dates for the number series they used.  :D

LV     06.47 (should be 09.50)
MEC  10-47 (should be 05.51)
BM    09.47 (should be 04.51)

You should still be able to find them in stores somewhere?

AND: As I was looking this up, I just noticed that the Atlas site has an SSW version pictured, which AFAIK was not released, but should have an 8' door?  :? They must have cancelled this scheme.
Cheers,
Scott

They released the SSW car.  One number should have a 7' door the other 8'.

Cotton Belt - I'm getting old(er) - didn't put 2 and 2 together  :P
So both numbers were released with 7' doors, yes? Strange....
