Marc,
Your T1 drive chassis is simply beautiful.    You and Hans are such talented guys.    A blend of watchmaker,
machinist and model railroader.   "Well done" doesn't seem nearly a nice enough compliment, but WELL DONE!

It is a great movie!

And it's funny that the rep of that movie improved greatly after the web became popular.

I was too young to go see it when it came out, but from what I understand it didn't rate very well with critics or the movie going audience and just kinda showed up once in a while on late night TV.   I remember staying up late and watching it every now and then... It's a long movie so it was pretty much something that was only allowed during the summer... I even bought the soundtrack.  :D

The Interweb allowed us "Kelly's Hero's" nuts to connect and it caused a bunch of folks who had never heard of it to check it out.

From my understanding Clint Eastwood and the director were both disappointed with the end result due to the editing done by the studio.  It caused Eastwood to demand much more control over future films.

Nothing near as awesome as some of the others .. but I have been playing around with signals and signal bridges .. first up .. the Model Power $1.99 bridge ..  removed the molded in signals .. and cleaned up the railings with styrene .. then painted up .. passes the 3 foot rule ..

Spent the weekend tweaking the design of an offset "wedge" set for MARRS HO:

Wrap the wedges around a six-foot module as shown, and you have a 10-foot stretch of track with a four-foot front-to-back offset.

(Yes, spreadsheets are a modeling tool...)  8)

Flight2000:  Does anyone else see the irony of railroads worrying about grade crossing accidents, then painting their trains in camouflage?

That's probably why this particular paint scheme only lasted for about 5 months in 1991 before being repainted back into the normal UP colors...

Ahhh...  Yes, that could be a big part of the reason.  I wouldn't think their insurance company would be too fond of it either!

Mow, if it was to be used on the point only for special events, and was restricted to use as a trailing unit otherwise, it wouldn't be a problem.

I have no idea what the operating rules were for the unit, but it was not restricted to trail only.  Lot's of pics on the net showing it on point in manifest trains.  Had the white stripes and ditch lights, so it must have met the requirements for that time frame.  The war ended and UP's employees returned in late 1991, so that may be the biggest reason it went back into it's regular livery.  Not sure when they started the special design loco's that remained in service for longer periods of time.
