Hey I didn't know Hans was on here too!

Hans sold me his very last Arnold S2 motor conversion kit. Best money I ever spent. The engine is the smoothest, quietest engine I own.

The T1 project is just incredible. I would never even think of scratch building an engine.

I must say, this project has allowed Hans to really show his skill and shine.  I am proud to be involved with the effort.

The tender drive for the T1 is progressing quite nice allthough attaching the side frames of the tender trucks turned out to be very time consuming. The problem is to provide for enough space to let the truck swing.

Picture of the mold for the lead tender weight. We want to have as much weight in the tender as is possible.

I must say,  this project has really allow Hans to show off his full ability and shine!!  Again beautiful work.

started a new project with some of my 48' trailers I had stored away.  I am repainting them into reefers.  Also, had a new order from Shapeways including 6 new Pete cabs.  I have a lot of finish work to do.

I upgraded the AR-1's on my upper level to OnGuard!'s.  Straight out of the box, no clicks and no shorts.  Why did I wait so long to upgrade?

The main structure of the high Cisco bridge is now finished, just a few more gussets and it is ready to paint.  The wide deck ties are mostly finished and the railings and walkways are next.  I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.

Still no train stuff for me. All of the trains were packed away this week for the move to the new house (the layout has been packed in its travel trailer since last month). I packed up everything in totes and have them stacked in the storage locker and will start moving them to the new house in a few weeks. Plans for the new basement sized layout continues as well. I'm pretty excited to start building large layout again.

I did get a chance to slide over to Bike Week yesterday.

Thanks gents, it feels great to be able to put the track on and put a few cars up for a photo.  Mark, I do suspect it would have been a similar cost to 3D print.  It is scary how many styrene strips and Central Valley parts it took!  The CP Cisco bridge will likely be a BLMA brass unit!

It was a great Father's Day, which even allowed me to slip away to the train room for a couple of hours guilt-free.  I began dropping feeders on the Southern Pines side of the layout and managed to avoid melting any ties.  With that momentum, I reinstalled the missing ties at all of the rail joints in this section of track and even threw down a coat of paint.  I only painted a small section of track (the double tracked portion at left in the first picture below), so I didn't overwhelm the house with paint fumes.



I tried hand-painting "rust" on the sides of the rails on the two lesser used sidings and only sprayed "grimy black" straight down to minimize overspraying the rust on these tracks.  For the main tracks I only used grimy black as my color of choice for well-used track.  As you may also be able to see, I didn't use cork roadbed under the sidings but rather just a couple of layers of cardboard to lower the sidings below the main tracks.



This section is almost ready for ballast, but I want to wire the frogs and realized that I forgot to drop those feeders before painting.  No biggie.

Not much for me this week.  I did finish the second SD40-2, but changed the road number so the new owner could have 2 of these babies.  They do look cool, even with a fake number on one of them...
