Great pics of a great layout!
It's a fun layout to operate on too. As of a few weeks ago it has been fully signaled too! I'm fortunate enough to be part of the Monday night round robin crew mentioned in the article. We have a great group of modelers and fantastic layouts like this to work on. I think I've spent more time working on other layouts than on my own trains. :D

I got to visit Rob's layout a couple of years ago when I went to Portland.  It's a mind-blower...  He's really mastered the scenery to trains ratio.

The Tennessee Pass should be considered one of the great N scale layouts! Rob's modeling is over the top and the future expansion looks great so far. I thought the photos in the latest article really showed off his modeling in a good way. Some of those views had never been taken. Having viewed the layout on many occasions, I was quite surprised. He is a real asset to the NW N scale scene.

I'm pretty sure it was covered a couple of time in N Scale Railroading magazine... Kirk was a friend of Rob's from what I understand.  Not sure if you can still search back issues, but someone might be able to dig one up for you.

I like that photo backdrop. what are you using on that? The structure is phenomenal also.  is that all styrene?

Rob has the photo backdrop custom printed off of photos he took.

The depot is all scratch built from styrene with Tichy windows

Maybe his layout is so amazing because he doesn't waste as much time as we do reading and posting online about it.
