Finished, two ICG SD40's

Today I finished two ICG SD40's. First N-Scale model in I don't remember how many years it has been. Just a cleanup, paint and decal. No special detailing or weathering. Just wanted to get two N-Scale models under my belt. Get back into the swing of N-Scale.

Go here and under the first heading click on the photo links for ICG SD40 #6052 & #6057.

Moving on to my next four models. Three DEEX SD40's and one U30C. After those, I have three maybe four MPI SD45's.

Fantastic work on the grilles & gaskets.  Now it almost begs to be detailed.  ;)

That's on my want list.  Can I buy the fourth one off of you?   :D

Very nice Brian. Are you going to start  modeling the Copper State in N-scale?

You can buy all four of them  :). They will be for sale when I am finished. As is the ICG units.

The MPI units will get some detailing though. Due to them having white grab irons, I will have to put wire grabs on. Same goes for the pilots. I'll have to trim all the details off and add wire coupler lift bars so I can put the white stripes on the pilot. Two of the MPI units will be with low mount brakes. One with one up/one down and the fourth with high mounts. I guess for ditch lights, I will have to use Miniatures by Eric. Clean them up and probably put a drop of ACC in the light area to create the lens. I do not think MV makes a lens that small.

Currently though I need to finish the Detroit Edison units. The decals are proving to be a real PITA. I do not have a full understanding yet of how to use graphic art programs to create the fonts and such. I'll get there though. Once I can get the decals done, the models will be finished quickly.

No, I will not be modeling my Copper State Railway in N-Scale. I have not built any yet, but for my own N-Scale collection. It is Monongahela. I have to get custom decals made for it though. The Microscale ones are wrong and I also need to add a bunch of stuff to it for other models. I will have these decals produced by Microscale. Again, I need to figure out how to use the graphic art program in order to really make these decals properly.

Wow, really jaw dropping  :o . Reminds me, now, I should have an ICG unit for run-through appearances.

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

Brian,
If you want, I'll email you the template I did for mine a couple years ago.
I just ran the sheet of white decal paper through the printer upside down and cut on the lines.
I'll have to update it though if your using Kato's, their not scale width hoods.
(Guess how I figured that one out. :P)

Sounds good.  Photos sold me on the quality.  Keep us posted.   :)
