I think it is one thing to buy a set and make copies for your own layout.  I think it is quite another to make copies and sell them or give them to friends.  Did none of you out there ever buy an album and then copy songs onto cassette tapes for your own convenience?  I am guessing you did not write the company and asked them where you should send your check to and how much should it be.  Ever tape a movie on the TV?  Let a friend borrow a CD so they could copy it?  Just asking and never judging.

I think it's poor form to openly advocate ripping off someone like that, especially right to their face. It discourages people from trying to make new things.

+1 in a major way. Particularly as I speak from the same side of the fence as Great Lakes Models. I'm kind of torqued up that the subject was even raised.

Cool product! Its little things like those that can make a scene.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Copying things? Isn't the first rule of fight club you don't talk about fight club?

Sorry that I brought this up, but it is the reality.   Is it really wrong to buy something then make copies for your own use?  No need to answer - this was a rhetorical question.  Sounds like this part of the discussion might be better put to rest.  As I already demonstrated in my original post, I can easily make my own concrete barriers.  They are not exact models (no ridge or groove) but they work just as well.

As I already stated in my initial post, the product introduced in this thread is very nice.

In the steam and vehicle threads they actually show that they're ripping somebody off and it gets applauded.  This forum needs to pick a side of the fence.

Pete raises a very good point about the price and what could happen if it's too high.  You guys are reading way too much into it.

Nice addition to N but way to modern for my use.  And the way this is going, it's gonna be locked by a modeator if we don't tone this down.  Hate to see this happen on a new product thread.

Make copies of Sunrise gong bells that can't be found anywhere? Sure, you can do it and talk about it and probably get some kudos for nice looking bells. Make copies of barriers that were just announced? Mmmkay, I guess, but don't expect anyone to applaud your efforts.

I've never seen them made with the v groove in them.   At the concrete plants I worked at here in Central Ohio,  we had the forms for cubic yard blocks that we used around the yard, and sold as well.  These look way easier to work with.  But then, it's been *ahem* a "few" years since I've been in the industry.  Lot's of potential uses for these on a layout.  Thanks...

Cast metal seems a bit odd for such a useful product. (but that's already been touched upon...)
I'll be buying a fair sized set of these due to their varying uses.

That price IMO is much more reasonable.

molding quality looks a bit ehh compared to the ones that are the subject of this thread. Which would also serve to somewhat explain the steeper price.

Fine N Scale's "molding quality" is superb.

+1 -- just look at their rolling stock kits... they're about as close to injection-molded quality as you can get with resin.
