"Flatankenhopper" rolls off the tongue a bit better Did any other company roll these besides Hellabutton?
I remember seeing some of these cars about 15 miles north of Cadillac,Michigan about 20 years ago. I was told they were used for transporting drilling mud. I find the cars rather interesting but I have no use for them what so ever, but I think it would be neat to see them made.
TLCX 30 & 31 are the only other ones I know of, but they were leased to Halliburton. These were built by P-S (for those whom the reporting mark didn't give that away), 08-1961, and were called 'Airjet's. About the only real difference from the WNHX (now HWCX) cars that were built by Thrall (02-1961 IIRC) was that had a motor and compressor at one end to offload the tank contents, making the car a self contained pnuematic covered hopper...
