Small Chain, rope, strapping??

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I have not found a similar thread.

Has anyone seen a more local source of these types of material for chain, rope, strapping etc.?

I often buy items on ebay from foreign nations (including Poland). No problems. Paypal makes transactions even easier.

I am just not a big fan of the bay, but will in a pinch. I was wondering if some of that stuff might be available retail or from an industrial supplier, but cant figure out what industry might use that stuff.

If you read through https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=28291.msg295482#msg295482 there is a photo of a model DKS made which uses a beading needle for fine chain. That looks similar to some of those items on ebay, and should be stocked by any crafts store.

This is properbly the cheapest way to do a chain. I just used 2 copper wires and twisted them until I got the right look. I spend about $2 and got 50feet of chain.

For pipe load banding I found some black 1/64" tape at a drafting supply store... works out to 2.5 N scale inches.

I don't know the size of the wire. I used wires from and old electro motor for toy that I bought on one of those train shows. I guess it is 32 or 36.
Little tip: After I twisted the wire, I dropped it into Poly Scale Rust to get rid of the shine copper color.
