CDS is back...... sort of

It now appears that Ozark Miniatures has successfully purchased the CDS line of dry transfers and has them on line for purchase here:

http://www.ozarkminiatures.com/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=1314

Not everything is in stock and the web site is a bit disorganized but the potential loss of the CDS catelog was of great concern to many so the fact that it seems to have been picked up is a great boon to modelers !

PS: CDS has slab side hopper sets.... hint, hint !
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

They also show decals for the G22 PRR gondola, but no 'buy' button
Will need these for the wonderful DB4 containers.....
Cheers,
Scott

I just started the plans for scratchbuilding my Algoma Central wood cabooses (in HO). I already have a stack of CDS sets for the AC cabooses though, so I'm all set.

I once used CDS transfers as a teenager on some HO work.  I made a big mess of them and could not keep things straight.  They cracked too, as I recall.

Can you transfer them to decal film?  Laying decals is soooo forgiving

Yes, 9 times out of 10, I'll transfer them to decal film.

That's great news!

I've been trying to get some AA ribside hopper dry transfers for over 10 years now! :(

And I've done both ways, but lately I've been putting them all on a sheet of clear decal paper.

CDS never disappeared, they just started working through one distributor - TMR.  I've never had a problem getting the CDS dry transfers I wanted over the past few years.

Excellent news.  I apply the large transfers "dry" but lately have used decal paper for the small stuff like road numbers.

Well; I know about 8 years ago they did that but the gentleman who owned CDS retired and the business was kind of "on hold" until this change...or so I was told by some people who should know..... am I mistaken Bryan...?

I know that TMR has ample supply of most of the product line, as that is my source currently.

It's interesting how two modelers can have completely different experiences... TMR has been out of over 20 sets I've asked for for years.... now; that may be because they are somewhat obscure sets ( ie: CPR MOW service marking) but nevertheless, it's funny that I'd all but given up and you've had little issue.....

Their X23 decals aren't that great:

Black Cat has CP Rail and pre-CP Rail MOW sets, although I'm not sure whether Allen currently had then in N scale. If the demand is there you can probably get him to print them in N scale too.
