Bob at TrainCat ran a bunch a couple of years ago, noted here, click on "New Releases" at the top. However, I can't seem to find them on his site now, with the understanding that he has shuffled a number of his offerings around, so he may be out of stock and not electing to produce more.

Did you check Sommerfeldt's N Scale insulators? #393 and 407

If you can't find any, I would think small machine screws with the heads cut off would fit the bill.

That's what I used on my TrainCat electrical towers before Bob offered them from his product line.

I used #405, but #393 would also work.  I found I had to stack more than one to get the length I wanted.

Decapitated machine screws . Perhaps those old MTL dull gray ones are in your reach .

 To me screws used as insulators look like ... screws used as insulators.  They  look funny. I guess it is the diagonal slant and the sharp edges of the threads.

If you can find a better price I think watch O rings is a direction to research . Build your own , any size .

I have used screws as insulators.  00-90 screws look fine to me, but anything bigger looks like a screw, just as Peteski says.  I'll second the Sommerfeldt insulators, as the come in several sizes, and the ones I have have holes all the way through.  If you can find the right diameter there's nothing to keep you from string several together to make a longer insulator.
