Depressurizing spray paint cans?

I bought Floquil zinc chromate primer spray paint for my G22 gondola and it's new containers. The problem is I can't get them to spray decent no matter what tip I try. I bought 2 larger spray cans and I don't want to throw out the paint. How do I depressurize the cans so I can open them?

Spray with the can upside down, then crack open with a church key.  The best part is the paint will be pre-thinned and perfect for airbrushing!

You might lose a little paint until the paint falls below the level of the intake straw... but not much.

Google "decanting spray paint for airbrushing". There are many plastic modelers who have done this and articles/videos posted. No need to open the can, you can decant it into a container in small amounts. Just remember the "decanting" part of it before you seal the container! It has to de-gas before you can seal it.

Depending on the goal, I've used both methods. But most of the time I decant only as much as it is needed as I think the paint lasts longer inside the can than in a bottle.

I've sprayed directly into an air brush bottle. A little messy, but not too bad.

Chris have you tried a Tamiya nozzle?

i forget what i used. i want to say a new wd40 nozzle and tube
i sprayed the paint down the tube of the glass airbrush jar

I started holding the can upside-down to get the air out and then my hand got tired...

It doesn't matter much as there are no PRR gon decals to put on after I paint the thing.  :|
