 :oops:So I hit the wrong key the result is still the same from my end as I checked the hole in a Kato MB70 but in fact the hole size should be 7/64" and that is only a poofteenth away from a mickey which is nearly as close as you are going to get to a 1/8" drill which will make the whole hole you will need. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Best way to get the doors out is to lightly scribe around the door inset with the back of a pointy blade until the piece drops out. Then measure the thickness of the sides and get a piece of plastic card about half the thickness and scribe and snap to size. Mark the centre of the Porthole opening. Drill with a #70 drill and then finish off with a standard 1/8" drill in a pinvise. touch up with a file any where the opening is too tight for the insert door. Lightly push into position and glue from the back with a liquid cement.

I think it is now time to get on the case of Hellgate Models and start to annoy them until they get their models back out in the market again.  I know I have been talking to Claus and he is busy for a few weeks and has indicated that he is about to make a move.

I don't understand all your strange Aussie Talk. It both frightens and angers me!  :trollface:

I think I tested the bit against my HGM RPO. I chose it to put in that brass window ring! Good luck finding brass pipe in 7/64 :trollface: :trollface: :trollface:

18" diameter glass is 2.86mm in n scale.  Add 1/2 the window gasket width, approx 3/4" and you are right at 3mm od tubing and drill.  3mm tubing has .225 wall so the gasket appearance would be 1.4" wide.  I'd say that's just right...

Now that I probably have. 1/64th did seem a bit odd though I never put 2 and 2 together, at first thinking more of a #64 bit...

I Love this company!  The really small thin-wall brass tubing is perfect for street-light and signal poles, and there is plenty of room inside for wires!
The structural shapes also come extremely handy in scratchbuilding.

I should have known you'd have a source...
Of the three different online metal/tubing sources I already have bookmarked, these guys seem to be the most comprehensive.
Looks like I might be adding the tubing after all.

Not even off the ground yet. I haven't even begun to strip the paint.

Speaking of which... should I use poly scale PRR Maroon or PRR Tuscan Red? And who makes suitable decals?

I think I figured out which decals are the ones I need.
Just need to figure out which paint to use and then I can start shelling out whats left of my money.
I probably should also crack the car open to see if there is any excess weight I can remove. Which does make a good project to do while I watch some television.
Still haven't gotten rid of the other RPO cars though... so it might be awhile before I buy one of the Hell Gate Models kits.
