Hi Folks,

While we can all take the mickey out on the member I think I understand what Enzo was trying to say but somewhere along the line it go sorta mixed and when it arrived it looked like mud.

I do believe the correct expression would have been, " I have considered those David but as I am trying to model the ATSF prototypically I was wondering if you would consider doing these as well for your range so that I and other may benefit also".

Sometime we tend to get wrapped up in the subject and loose touch with the proper context.

Regards

Having read babbo's posts over a period of time, I doubt he needs to use a translator. There are nuances of language that escape all but the most fluent. I suggest he might have meant "recommend" instead of "insist."

Without jumping on the 'DKS must do this' bandwagon, let me offer the following comments...

1) Nice as they may look, and probably not to hard to modify, the NZT boxes don't really match the common prototype we see at least all over the west...

2) There's several variations of these that can be done.  Singles, doubles, with and without weatherheads.

3) Doesn't it seem like someone should be doing these?  (Helloooooo Craig Martyn?)  Are the sunrise molds really dead and gone, or can they be bought from him by someone?  What has happened to the N scale details market?  There's a number of basic things like this that we used to have and can't seem to get now (e.g. beacons).

Thank you, stepping off my soapbox now...

Thanks, everyone, for this... well... entertaining conversation. Not to worry about language issues; I have friends all over the world, and I've a pretty good ear for what folks like babbo intended.

As for new products to do, I think most readers can imagine that I have a list longer than both arms of wants and suggestions. On rare occasion, as was the case with the DB4 containers, I'm able to squeeze in a unique item here and there. But, for the most part my time is consumed by current and future projects, which includes an increasing amount of contract work for other companies--and this can create the false illusion that I have more spare time than I really do, since this work does not appear on the NZT products list.

I will say that, as I write this, the good news is a new style of relay box is on the way. The bad news, for babbo anyway, is that it's not the western prototype he wants. Honestly, as much as I'd love to make everyone happy, I cannot say when or if any particular item may be coming. I will do my best, but please don't think I'm ignoring anyone because their wants are not fulfilled.

Did I go to the only High School with an ESL program?

English as a
Second
Language

 :)

Nope, I also spent a year in ESL classes while in High School. Unfortunately there were no Polish speaking teachers so I had to figure things out on my own.   :)

When I saw wcfn100's post it took me a while, but I did figure out what he meant.
Doesn't this type of an honest mistake often start a war?

Um, I was serious.  David snaps his fingers and this stuff does magically appear!  It takes me weeks and sometimes the finished product looks like crap.

Thanks gents for all kind world and your sympathy....
sure are some nuances in the spoken language that escape me :) and be sure my intention was not to irritate nobody.
David, my suggestion was driven by my unsuccesfully search of N scale signals that can be placed in my layout, but I understand your reasons and appreciate your interest anyway: your effort cover so much details we N scalers never dream just few years ago... thanks and keep your nice work!
And, Ben, good pictures on Flickr! Maybe I can make a resin mold from these in the future.

PS... By the way ... and OT ... can somebody enlight me on "what's wrong in "insist"? Just to avoid one more misunderstanding in future, thanks.

"insist" is usually used as a command - .. I insist that you complete this task.   ..

in·sist  (n-sst)
v. in·sist·ed, in·sist·ing, in·sists
v.intr.
To be firm in a demand or course; refuse to yield: insisted on giving me a second helping.
v.tr.
To assert or demand (something) vehemently and persistently: We insist that you accept these gifts.

Think of insist as sort of being the opposite of please.

You are doing fine babbo. This is how I believe the word "insist" was a wrong word in this case.
The way you used "insist": I demand that you make
The way I think you wanted to say: I beg of you to please make

Insist can be interpreted as an offensive, sometimes aggressive word in our crazy language and at other times show extreme courtesy at other times such as when you offer to pay for a meal with a friend and they resist. If you say "I insist" then you are saying you will pay the bill. English is difficult that way and I try to give a non English speaking person the benefit of the doubt..

insist                   >>     insistere                     ; male
request               >>     richiesta                      ; buono
beg                     >>     mendicare                   ; meglio
i beg you please  >>     vi prego per favore       ; migliore

I beg you please too.  :)
