Hi Folks,

Too much fine detail to get lost in the FUD and layering.

Would be better with a pattern done from brass etch.

I never knew that they dumped from the bottom.  Makes sense.

I need some!

I would love quality ones, but yeah...I'm with Al on this one. If it looks better than that H10 tender, maybe.

Very interesting bit of equipment. What's the history of the prototype? If it fits the early 50's timeframe, I'd be interested.

I think it was a way to ship dry, bulk commodities before covered hoppers.

I found this diagram:

The SD and DD container models would be an excellent stand-alone detail part. Though the containerized service didn't last very long, to this day there are still lots of those containers being used as storage sheds and whatnot in former PRR facilities.

Believe they also shipped coke in those containers.  Their are other types which fit into regular gons and several railroads used them.

Al's right - a master created from an etched brass wrapper around a FUD or styrene core would produce the best results.

Then you'd need a few of the TrainCat G22 gons to haul them in.

Actually... etched brass around FUD may be overkill. Stand by for some possible news here...
