Thank you everybody.  I especially owe gratitude to Jim Reising for giving me a kick in the pants to submit the article to the N-Scale Magazine. This was my first attempt at an article (and I guess with a 2-part one, with 10 pages in each part, I jumped into this with both feet). 

Originally I posted my Hiawatha review on the Atlas forum. It was also in two parts.

Few members of the Atlas forum mentioned to me that those reviews were worth making them into a magazine article. But it was Jim Reising  who finally convinced me to pursue that.  I contacted Pam at N-Scale Magazine. I asked her if she was interested in the subject. I even pointed her to the Atlas forum threads to give her an idea what type of information would be contained in the article.  She was interested and the rest is history...

Jim, as a token of gratitude, I would like to offer to build a model for your layout. Since you layout depicts modern time, I thing that this one will fit right in.


Let me know if you would like it with or without lights installed.

Folks, this comes under the heading of "what goes around comes around"....

I would not have had the MR article (and another to come!) were it not for Daryl Kruse's prodding. 

To others with something to say, my advice is to give it a shot.  Ya just never know.

And Peteski, I'd be honored to display the model - lights would be great.  I've had this idea  for the Bealville area working in the back of my brain and this would be the capper!

Jim, it'll be a pleasure to be able to plant one of my models on your layout (I know, I know, all these niceties are getting sickening).

I'll work out the details with you through PMs or emails. It will take me some time to get to that project as I have few deadlines to meet on other projects.  But it will happen early next year.

Yup!  Back in April of 2005. It was the starting point in my unforgettable train trip to Los Angeles on the Lakeshore Limited/Southwest Chief.    Unforgettable was the very cold shower in Superliner bathroom/shower due to a failed water heater. 

But seriously, the trip really was unforgettable and lots of fun!  Here is our train's motive power rounding a curve, crossing the COntinental Divide (Raton Pass)

No kidding... the only time I took the Lakeshore was right around that time when going to a wedding in Rochester. I pushed my girlfriend into it becasue it was right around the time they had announced that the full service diners were being retired in favor of the cafe cars.

Lunch was pancakes with syrup and strawberries, sassage and eggs. It was actually REALLY good. I had steak for dinner. MMMM train steak......
