Yeah, the signal and gate obviously protect a track or tracks behind the camera. The signal and gate are properly positioned to protect oncoming traffic in that lane.

The track in the background must be a spur. It has its own set of crossbucks (partly obscured by the foreground signal post).

Makes for a slightly misleading photo when you can't see the whole picture.
