Is it true that Oddballs is MIA/Gone/closed?

This would be unfortunate, and there seem to be too many tales on the web at this point for there not to be something going on there....

I don't know anything, but his website is definitely "oddball".  I would hate to see him fade away.

Website is still there and I didn't see anything about it being closed.

I saw that, too. (It was an N Scale Yard Sale posting/complaint.)

At this point it is a single public complaint, so it could be anything, including nothing.

I've seen others post about him on Nscale.org and nscale.net. Also think there were a few on trainboard.

The question is source. Is it multiple firsthand reports, or one guy with issues polluting the forums and it becoming a he-said-he-said situation.

Just sayin'.

Last I'd heard the guy behind Oddballs suffered a printer failure and didn't have the means to replace it or something like that. That was several years ago though I think. I've not heard anything since then. My understanding was HO was in stock, O, N, and whatever other scales were done to order. Indeed it would be a shame if he was no longer taking any orders. There's some good stuff in his library that isn't being done anywhere else. The sure fire way to find out is to try to contact him or one of the retailers listed on his website, albeit 1992 called and wondered why people don't use Tripod in the future.

I ordered a few N scale decal sets from him two years ago and was mailed a $20 credit saying that he was having printer issues and to re-mail my order in a months’ time. I did that, gave him a few months to print them and still no decals. I emailed him about the order and he said that he was sending the printer to Japan to be fixed? I have emailed him several times over the last year and a half and not received a response. I guess I am out few bucks?  Too bad, because it looks like he has some nice sets, I was looking forward to using them.

Not too sure...but for him being back in production, that is good news...he has around 10 sheets I want from him

This is the same Tom who posts sometimes on the Alps groups. Sounds like he had problems with his Alps printer.

For what it's worth, the decals I have ordered in the past from Oddballs were first rate.
