Superchief, I have but one criticism and it has NOTHING to do with your beatuiful modeling or scenes.  YOU NEED PORTABLE LIGHTING!  Your scenes would be much more detailed and bright.  Home Depot sells bell shaped clamp on lights that can be clamped overhead with nice big bright CFL bulbs, for less than $10 apiece and would make a huge difference in background shadow removal.

Please understand, I am selfishly suggesting this only so I can clearly view your awsome modeling skills in each scene! ;)

Very nice modeling!  Among other things, I like the color change in the rock where the cut was made for the main-line.  How big is the overall scene?

P.S. Looks pretty busy on Rte 66!

Absolutely LOVE it!
Your railroad has done much to inspire me since I've re-entered N scale !
In fact, I'm modelling Kingman Canyon on a much smaller scale on my door layout for the "Santa Fe Room"

http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?136937-layout-for-the-quot-Santa-Fe-quot-room&highlight=arbomambo

I'm modelling 1957, so i've been acquiring and modelling Santa Fe equipment as it appeared during that era...I'd love to know if you have any insights as to how the Canyon appeared back in those years!
Your scenery is spectacular!
Respectfully,
Bruce

PS-if you make it to the Temple show, please tell Joe, Kim,Bill, Dr. John and the rest 'howdy' for me!

Glad your posting the pics Gordon,
In Gordon's defence he has a very large double decked layout that is hard to properly light.  For the n scale rairoading (issue 59) shoot there were 5 of us over there holding 5000 watts of lighting.... We all left with a tan.  I am pretty sure he took these shoots last night by himself just to through  some pics outhere.  I think the long ter' answer tho is multiple toto light fixtures.  Gordons main concentration is on operations and its one of the best operation layouts out there.  Lets see Ashfork!!

Very nice stuff Gordon, very nice!   You and Bruce both need to join John Sing and I as the "Arizona Outlaws" doing prototype modeling along with some periodic chain pulling as necessary...   That high Kingman bridge is right on, very nice.

What I like about your scene is that like many others, you DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN what year it is, just look at the vehicles!  I've found that true on my layout that visitors need clues like that to 'explain' what year your railroad is.    Railroaders may be able to tell from paint schemes and motive power, but the civilians tune in on vehicles, movie posters, advertising, retail and restaurant names, things like that.   Do I see Burma Shave signs???

I've been helping Bruce with some research and gained a whole new appreciation of that area.  Joe McMillan's new book "Canyonlands and Super Chiefs" has a lot of nice Kingman Canyon color shots in it.
