Trouble Viewing Photos
« on: September 03, 2012, 12:12:50 PM »
I'm having trouble viewing some of the photos posted in the Weekend Update.  They don't seem to populate like others.  Anyone else seeing this?

The only ones that don't show up for me are Doyle's on page 4... other than that they all come up good.

Yes, absolutely. You have to bear in mind that none of the photos live on therailwire.net. They come from other servers and other domains, and are therefore subject to the whims (and the bandwidth) of the servers they're stored on.

One thing I have found, however, is that all DNS (domain name services) are not equal, nor treat all sites equally. If your DNS is slow, then photos and other external links are going to be slow, too. To test this idea gets a little geeky - you have to know another DNS to use other than the one handed to you by your ISP, then get into your network settings and change DNS settings in TCP/IP from automatic to "Use the following...". I use http://www.opendns.com when my ISP's DNS blows-up, which is frequently. Go to https://store.opendns.com/setup/computer/ for instructions on setting your system to their free DNS.
