Another new boxcar from ExactRail?

The Sep/Oct issue of N Scale Railroading has an ad from ExactRail announcing another new N scale boxcar: a 50' Gunderson hi-cube.  Is this a new model, or have I just been asleep?  I don't recall seeing this before, and I'm a bit surprised that it didn't seem to be mentioned at the National Train Show (again I might have missed it).  The prototype is this car,  which is very welcome news to me.

Wasn't this mentioned at the Medford convention, or the show preceding the convention?  I thought there were photos of the sample cars along with samples of the waffle cars, a couple of weeks before the waffles were released.

This was mentioned at the N-scale Convention - I believe there was a poster....

Should be especially good for BN, BNSF, right?

I just missed it or forgot about it.  Definitely good for BN/BNSF;  I also see a lot of the IBT cars on Tehachapi.  This will help me build up my $150 minimum order.

For what it's worth, I order 6 of the Southern waffles through my UK supplier ( ExactRail still deal with international dealers) and he was unable to get the full amount, so at least 3 road numbers have presumably sold out - get them while you can!

As for the 50ft hi-cubes, I shall be ordering a bunch of the Wisconsin Central cars and probably a few IC.

Also, noticed they had an email blurb sent out about how well they serve UP fans with all the UP models they had available for sale. Some were models that had been avaiulable for quite awhile. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Exactrail was selling direct to consumer at the NMRA show in Grand Rapids, and they seemed to have all versions and roadnumbers of the Waffle's available.  I bought one since I didn't have to pay shipping then.

Before the direct model was introduced I recall seeing a good number of their models showing as in stock on their website, both in HO and N. This is not new to them, or any other mfg for that matter, though determining weather or not the direct model will lead to lower sales overall will likely only be known if you are an insider at EXR. If they sell less overall, given enough time, they'll adjust the size of the runs to compensate to lower expected sales.

Thankfully these are too new for me... got enough coming in the pipeline as it is.

From the photo ads in NSR, these look to be re-releases of the old LBF high cubes.  Same paint schemes I already have and everything.  Not sure about the road no's or if the tooling has been cleaned up, improved, etc.

Good point Jeff.  I forgot that LBF did these ex-post cars and that I have one in my collection (man I'm getting senile...).

I have no idea if these models share any tooling, but comparing my LBF model to the ER photo there are several differences, the most significant being that the end ribs on the ER model have the correct size, whereas LBF's are way too small.  You can kind of see this in the top photo of this old BLW page.  The ER model also has a finer brake wheel, body-mount couplers, and will likely have much better paint than the LBF model.  I guess both models have availability issues.
