Very cool, although I personally have no use for one!  I thought the UP Heritage stuff and the 844 were the next big project coming from them!

Should be the as-built consist of which Kato has all the tooling done already.  Consist listed at M:160:

But, the newer stainless steel finish from Kato will be nice to see.

Is the E-5 a new loco?  Nice little train but not my territory.  Wish they would do more of these small trainsets.  Would love to have  a Reading Crusader set.

I would think you might be able to use the E8/E9 mechinism with a new shell and new trucks if I am not mistaken.  Will there be a B unit in the future some day???

That news is noteworthy in that it indicates Kato is willing to consider more shells for their E unit mechanism, which could eventually lead to a Kato E7A, which would be the answer to 85% of my passenger power unit needs. The other 15% being Atlas non-dynamic GP-7s in MEC paint.

I hadn't thought of it that way.  I would definitely be interested in some PRR E7A&B units if they were offered by Kato.  There are multiple schemes that could be offered.  I have several E8's and would like some E7's.  I know PCM offered E7A&B's in PRR, but IIRC it was only 1 scheme.
