NS has taken the 6900 to Roanoke from Spencer. Supposedly for some freshening up.

It is an E8 in Southern passenger green. It is original to the Southern and pulled the Crescent.

Ah. Now I understand... it's SOU 6900, not NS 6900, which is yet another rebuilt SD something-or-other (SD60E).
