Ed - Excellent color choice for the bridge beams.  Are you going to weather it?  Or will you leave it (essentially) as is to represent a fresh rehab/replacement?

Thanks guys.

Ben, Sean chose it while we were at Kleins. It's PC green.

I'm gonna hit it with a little bit of weathering, but not a ton.

It's PC green.

That's what I thought.  Excellent choice.  Looks very typical.

That PC Green was very typical of bridges (new or rehabbed) during that era.  It seems like the more recent projects (anything done within approx the last 15-20 years) are using a brown/maroon/red color instead of the green.  Almost a Wisconsin Central maroon.

Is there a thread where one can read up on the findings and discussion?

Working on some trees this weekend.  Made a little over 50 so far.  Dipped the first batch in matte medium, dried, then painted primer grey.  Second batch just dried after matte medium.  Will paint tomorrow and may add some foliage.  Just playing with tree placement and wanted to get an idea of what the space may look like eventually when trees were added.  Any suggestions on what you guys use for foliage on super trees?

Great progress. For Super trees, I like to go light on the foliage. It lets all that super detail show through. So here is what I do, paint the trees some grey/brownish color. (more grey then brown) Then get a dish of matt medium and roll the outside of the tree in it (other method is to spray the tree with hair spray for glue) Then the key is to have a mix of fine foliage in an open shallow dish. (mix green colors (about 3) around simular shades for summer or sping, add some tan colors for late summer fall, never use just one color) then I roll the edges of the tree in the mix and shake off the excess (avoiding getting foliage inside the center of the tree. If its too light on foliage, you can hit it with the hair spray and repeat roll the edges in the mix until it has an amount of covering you like. hair spray is good for adding additional layers.

Also make a ton of small trees/bushes (like 1/2" up to 2") filling in those with all the big trees makes for a more complete and full forest (at least the eastern kind you are seeking)

Scott Teague ha s agood video which is simular to what I do.  http://youtu.be/JfcnVP1kI-U

Good luck.

Mark, I love the snow shed.

Nothing really note worthy from me aside from making 2 new cabs for my GP5. One will be used on another project GP (or SD)

Other things:
Traded a ATSF F9 AB for an Amtrak F7A and a undec F3B. The A is being stripped and repainted for BN, the F3B is the wrong phase so it may be fodder for an RCU. Also traded a UP F3AB for a DRGW F9AB (correct for ex-NP F9s), and picked up a DRGW F7B. So I'll have 8 F-units, 5 F9s (3As, 2Bs) and 3 F7s (1A, 2Bs).

Got 3 sets of #80 drill bits, for a total of 30. These ones are hardened tool steel and meant for jewelery. They work great as I've drilled all the holes on 3 F-units and broke only 1.

Traded a Walther's 840-B for a Rivarossi Y6B.

Got the windows for the SD7, but can't get the lights to work the way I want. I'll be removing the stock light board and installing a light-board replacement decoder (likely a TCS A4X or A6X) as soon as I purchase one (or remove it from whatever loco of mine has it.
Vincent

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

A bunch of us have been experimenting with both sanded and unsanded colored tile grout by Polyblend.  You can get it in small boxes and large bags at Home Depot and Lowe's.

And in really cheap big bags at your local ReStore...  just don't be picky about the color.

Here are some of my Happy Little Trees.  These are part of the first batch I made up that needed a little more foliage.

Unfortunately that is O scale, but Drew has done some cool catenary with N with his old NEC modules.
