A Providence-bound MBTA train from Boston passes under the abandoned station in Central Falls, Rhode Island last week.

Just finished four days in the far north and here are a couple of photos from the trip.  First, we left Cochrane and drove the 20 kms to the "end of the road" to photograph the Polar Bear Express before she continued her trip over the muskeg to Moosonee on Hudson's Bay.  Led by a GP40-2 and a GP9 the Bear had 3 85 foot flats on the front loaded with cars, one express car, and then the coaches.  The APU was on the rear end of the train.

After 4 days we headed south and stopped at the yard at Englehart which is about 200 kms north of North Bay.  The yard crew let us know that a CN extra of light engines was going north to pick up a work train at Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.  We got a nice surprise when the light engine move arrived as the second unit was a BCRail Draper Taper.

Ah, okay. Most of my summers are spent in the Boston area, and my parents live near Fall River. Everything is close to Rhode Island...

Not to be outdone by all those shots of the heritage units, here's my own shot of the Spencer Shops roundhouse...

Still, snagged a couple of goodies while I was there...
