Ran across this unloading facility down near Security.



Here's the location.

This aerial view gives some answers the the cars that are dropped in Springs.  But I can't say I've seen the covered 2-bay hoppers left out.  I'll have to go down and see what kind of vantage point I can get on the scrap yard and if you go east, there's a concrete company that used to get rail service it looks like.

Greetings from Tehachapi.  Just a few quick shots from Friday afternoon before I head out for the rest of the day.  Around 4 pm Friday a UP manifest was headed southbound through the Loop when it went into emergency with the tail of the train still on the single track approach to Tunnel 9.  Lo and behold it was a problem with one of the DPU's that turned out to be UP1996, the SP heritage unit:



The ghost of SP gets its revenge!
