Well, a PRR diner isn't, in all likelyhood going to help a CPR modeler, but does anyone have any photo's or plans to take a boo at ?
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Perhaps.  But it will be kitbash-able, so a man of your skills will still find it useful.

I'm curious as to how detailed the roof is going to be on the model, as the prototype has a lot of intricacies no matter what era is being represented.

Is this diner strictly PRR or did other RR use this one as well?

Strickly PRR far as I know.  LIRR probably used some since they were PRR owned.  Could also find them on NH trains between D.C. and Boston.

Also wonder about what type of roof they are going to use.  There were many classes of D78s - D78, D78R, D78a, D78aR, D78b, D78bR, D78c, D78dR, D78ddR, D78edR, and D78fR.  Those with R means refrigerator or A/C.  Read somewhere that cars using the tunnels into NYC could not use charcoal so they had to have either electric or gas stoves.

I am glad to see it is a diner.  I am assuming you will see a pullman name and all of the other major roads they have been doing already.  Although a pullman green but unlettered would do me just fine!!!

Thanks Joe for the update!

Hi Folks,

The point that was clouded in the misty eyes of what Joe said about the D78 diner was
Quote
Next series of cars are under development and i hope to announce them soon.
. Now the D78 is just one car so what are the others. I would like to see a single window car produced some thing like   3 Dr 6 Compartment Sleeper from plan 3523A. This model has a configuration of one side having all single windows with the other side being nearly all doubles. No matter what it will be great to see what MTL brings.

Looks as if those of us who are MTL heavy weight passenger car fans can save our $$$'s during July 2012, and wait patiently for these new offerings.  8)
Shipsure's post does indicate more than a D78 diner is in Big Plan!

Joe,

that is a winner in my books. Just going through the list of HW and SL/HW consists that I would like to have running through Huntingdon during a operating session I got to 9 so far and then there are the mods. Those and the betterment Car conversions and the list grows.

Al

Wouldn't a PRR B60 be an excellent model? Although strictly a Pennsy car (am I right?), it was seen all over the continent.

It would be.  But with Walthers having the HO model on the market while sitting on digital specs that could be converted into N rather easily, no other manufacturer is likely to touch it.

I believe N&W also had them, due to Pennsy control.

Yes, N&W also had them.  I believe their trucks and doors were different but not 100% sure.  The Hellgate B60s are nice and easy kits to do but they have been out of production for some time.  Clause said they plan on making some more soon.

Hi All,

The B60 would be a great choice for mine as there are about 4 or 5 different styles they can be done in and every good consist needs at least 2. Whoever produces the model needs to go that little step further and educate the modeller on the cars and how they were used in consists. It is all part of marketing.

I'll purchase the diner and would definitely purchase several B60's if they were made.  Multiple numbers or decals would be needed.  There are a few other recent PRR releases that I will probably pick up.

The only difference was the doors.  Photos show the same trucks as on the PRR cars...
