I was very pleased to hear that the diner would be a PRR prototype.  Micro Trains has been very kind to us Pennsy fans.

Joe may pop in later with some intel, and I haven't inquired recently so I don't know for certain.  But I suspect there will be some passenger car news released next month in Milwaukee, either via product samples at the MTL booth or an announcement at the Manufacturer's Breakfast.

Bryan,

That would make perfect sense!  Awful quiet on the home front and a big show coming up, sounds like the perfect storm for announcements!!  Here is to hoping.   :D

They have been working on a single window coach for a while; a logical and much needed car. With due respect to the SPF's out there in Railwire land I would hazard a guess that specific Pennsy car styles would not be high on the list; nor would specific CPR styles.... they do want to have some reasonable "multi road painting" options (ok; all MTL bashers chime in about their many transgressions) and the fact that roads like the PRR and CPR built many of their own cars means that it limits the usefulness of the dies.... I would think they'd more likely to use Pullman and other multi road style cars first...other than the rumoured diner that is.....That said, they have to pick some prototype so, who the heck knows what we'll get !

(Pick CPR; we're friendly up here...damnit !)

Ya, but there's more SPFs here. Don't try and cross between an SPF and a prototypical model! It'll get ugly, like being in between a moma bear and her cub.

The train travelers on my layout are bringing box lunches if their trip is during meal time.

It would be.  But with Walthers having the HO model (B60) on the market while sitting on digital specs that could be converted into N rather easily, no other manufacturer is likely to touch it.

I believe N&W also had them, due to Pennsy control influence.

Yes.

Keep in mind that each Pullman heavyweight diner plan is pretty much specific to one or two roads, so anyone chosen would be stand-in's for all but one or two roads.  The D60 is as good a choice as the Pullman Plan 4004 that I'm working on (NH and ACL only) or any other.

Dining cars are hard as so many were either "home road built", built to road dpecific plans or were modified by the owner road..... Sleepers and coaches are far more generic although there are many minor variations.... it all depends on what you can live with.....

Hellgate made them, but they do limited runs with years between them!
