Maybe they could announce something then, instead of not saying anything about them other than internet rumor. We've all heard this "N scale SD40-2's coming but not from IM" for a long time, yet not a peep from the mfg that chooses not be known. Sort of like the BLI vaporware, except BLI at least announced the products that were eventually not going to do...

Agreed.  The mysterious "Dash 2 Project" gets less funny by the year...  Certain people are "read into" this classified project while the rest of us are not.  The only explanation I can think of is that the company allegedly working the -2 is worried about becoming the next PCM/BLI and therefore wants the market to know that something is in the works to mark the hydrant (so to speak) while maintaining plausible deniability if it fails to reach production.  Nevertheless, I am starting to view this as I viewed the M1a/b.

I need at least two with Flexcoil trucks.  Don't care who they're from as long as they're good.

Ah, but they work for me!  And since this is a re-run of the first HO flatcar and bulkhead flatcar releases, it stands to reason that the sequence of railroads released in N scale will parallel what was released previously in HO.  All of the HO releases of these cars sold extremely well and quickly, so we should see all of the roads released in N scale eventually.

What's up with no western roads?

53' AAR 70-ton flat.  No western roads probably because not many owned them.  But tons of eastern roads had them.  Roads IM released in HO are NH, ATSF, Erie, EL, B&O, C&O classic, C&O Chessie, CNJ, CRP, DT&I, NYC, PC, WAB, IHB and PM.  Look for ATSF in the second release, which is what happened in HO.

The Bad news is that HO gets more SD40-2's and we get the shaft on this much needed model.......for now.

I'm not complaining one bit. I do NOT want to see IMRC take on, screw up, and poison the well with them.

Western roads are second or third tier road names.  Nobody buys that stuff

OK, I'll bite (at) Lee. The eastern road names seem an odd choice, considering western roads would be swathed in flats for lumber service. You'd think IMRC would have thrown a SP, WP, NP, BN, etc. bone out for the lumberkind.

Hey, lots of lumber loads for east coast car.  Still see tons of wrapped and unwrapped boards, ties, treated and untreated telephone poles running around today.  SCL, Southern, B&O, C&O all served various lumber processing plants in the Eastern and Southern U.S.

Not saying they didn't Bob, at all. It's just lumber flats are kind of a staple for the 40s through the 80s for western modelers, especially PACNW modelers.

Wasn't trying to say they weren't.  Spent nearly a year in Bremerton, WA way back when and remember seeing all the lumber being carried by the railroads.  Of course, it was the Milwaukee, Northern Pacific, Great Nortnern, UP, etc back then.  I think if you wait long enough, you'll get your wish.

Maybe because it's still in the design and planning phase? I dunno, I'm not in this business so I don't know what the turn around time for a locomotive is from start to announcement.  I have talked to this company about this project personally, so I can say I'm not reading into anything. But it hasn't been announced so if not produced no harm....just please no IM if this company doesn't!

I didn't buy the SD45-2s mainly because of all of the issues others elucidated here and on the A board.

However, I have other Internountain products that I'm quite happy with.  Perfect?  No.  But I'm not part of the Intermountain hatefest.

They were really cool about searching the factory stock and assembling for me, at discount, a PRR F7A/B pair just last month, long after they sold out on the streets.  I always see the Bs but never the As.

I don't care who does the SD40-2, as long as it's done well.  I know the IMRC well is poisoned for some because of the 45-2.  I wish this secret agent would come forward so I could pre-order a pair.
