MicroTrains Erie depressed center flatcar

Does anyone have a reference or guideline as to how the load included with the Erie flat would actually have been secured to the flatcar?

Wow that thing was built in 1929 - I may need one of these now. Is there a '29 version modeled out there somewhere?

Found it MT 109000 series car Erie version. Ordered.

The transformer itself would have been welded to the blocks that are welded to the car. So basically its welded down and the steel rods are welded or screwed for extra support. They still do it to this day, or at least the dozen or so I have moved are welded.

I lower mine even more than that.  I remove all bolster details entirely from the underside of the diecast body, install 28" wheels and body-mount #2004 couplers.

We really need a Z scale version of the 2004.  I want to go with Z scale couplers but some times you just can't lower the car to where you want and get a 905 high enough.  I am thinking of just setting my standard coupler height lower than the standard MT height and hope non-converted cars don't pull apart from converted cars until I convert them all.  Just a few thousand to go!

Take the model apart and bend the diecast frame into shape.

I think I also moved the truck centers out slightly to remove the trolley-car look and keep the truck frames from hitting the slope underside.  See the Nov/Dec 2004 issue of NSR to see how I lowered mine.

Also see the notch above the center axle of each truck, but that may have been an Erie thing.

And I have another one of these "in progress" somewhere...

I hate to bring it up. But I remember the numbers MT used on these cars don't match Erie drawings, but there is another group of Erie cars that is a match for the MT car. At work now. Will look up the details later.
