Seems to me like the "regular" price is just a slap in the face.

It should say -

The price we would like to get - $26.95
The price we think you might actually spend - $21.95

When is - The price they will actually move at - going to show up on the site?

You notice they avoided the words "sale price".

I hate to do it, but I may spring for several Lake Erie, Franklin and Clarion cars.  I remember seeing a photo of one of these in a Rails Northeast from the early 80's at Conway Yard.  The car looks good.  Thanks.

I guess they have to put the $26.95 to show that prices have gone up.  And the $21.95 to show that they are taking the hit and keeping prices low for the consumer despite the increased prices from China.

I dunno. As much as I would like to see these at my LHS, if the only way they can make a profit is to sell direct, then I rather buy online than not at all.

Free shipping for Canadians is on orders over $150 (US is $50)... WTF? I know it's slightly less complicated to ship little teeny model trains to Canada than it was to transport the Space Shuttle to the Smithsonian, but come on...

Tony,IF the shop I go to carried ER the price would be $26.95 plus tax and gas for the 52 mile round trip and probably lunch at Coney Island or Skyline Chili but,he didn't carry ER so,I would be stuck ordering from a on line shop anyway.

As far as MSRP I always thought that was a joke anyway since on line shops sold them for less-without using "sale price" unless the shop was dumping them.I notice some on line shops uses "your price" or "our price" and then either "sale price" or  "blow out" if the model is a slow seller and the shop decided to dump them.

The key will be just how fast these sell out. The price bump is just a marketing ploy. Since they don't sell thru dealers. The MSRP is whatever they sell them for NIT what they say the price is but they are giving you a discount.

One side effect of the EXR changeover:  the latest batch of 4427 hoppers is the last sold through the retail channel, so EXR has them listed on the website at the "real" MSRP.  Yet not many if any retailers are carrying those cars as fallout from the changeover.  So you are forced to buy the cars at full boat from EXR if you want them.

It's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. I received an email from them yesterday thanking me for being a dealer etc, etc. They went on to say that after some consideration they are going to keep the dealer channel for international (outside North America) shops open. Those shops will be offered a chance to continue offering ER products at a reduced dealer discount.

I suspect that at some point they will come back to dealers here with a similar offer.

BTW: What is the deal with the $150.00 minimum to Canada? It takes no more effort to send a package there than it does to an APO box. Stupid policy.

For those interested, I think the Rock Island cars would be perfect for a B&M relettering job, they seem to be the right cars.......It appears at least some of these rolled into the mid 90s in ROCK paint....
