Mentioned earlier that I am quoting some large scale models of the VGN Battleship gon and in doing research came across a lot of cool info. I have a new house and lots of room and the default was to do my LA layout but after reading about what UK modeler Peter North did with the proto, I'm thinking it may be time to stash my brown and white freight cars. Question, what steam in N would work for VGN? Not looking to get super proto, but something close would be nice. Doing the 100 ton gons in N don't present much of a problem and those would make a nice summer's project. I am also thinking about the EL 2 as a possiblitity. I lined up a MP Mike and the main drivers are about right...add the two outside flywheels and you have a pretty easy chassis to start with. The rest would be old school modeling. I am ordering one of those bricks from Shapeways, but I think those will take a lot of work to clean up. Anyway, just sitting outside enjoying the first Oregon Sun day we've had in a month and dreaming about a new layout. Any input would be appreciated.
