Here is a puzzler.  I happen to get these email "tender offers" from CPR, which tend to be interesting. This is odd though. 35 CP bulkhead flats for sale - with a wooden frame structure on them - covered in plastic and "contaminated with bird feces".  See the link and photos. WTH??  Chicken transport???  Angry Birds related????  ????

They have a phone number for their agent in Saskatchewan. Maybe give him a call? Given the amount of feathers and crap, is it possible that these things were used for chicken storage or transport? Doesn't seem likely in either the US or Canada. I can see why they want to sell them.

Probably didn't actually move chickens, though I guess it's possible.  But pigeons love railyards (lots of spilled grain), and many abandoned buildings end up looking pretty similar after a few years of dis-use if the birds find a way into them.  I wouldn't be surprised if they just happened to find a way into the cars and made themselves some really nice coops.

I bet you're right, the cars seemed to have been stored around grain shipping areas, they probably were tarped for some purpose and then forgotten for a few months/years and boom!

Believe these were actually used for shipping wood pulp. They've probably been sitting for a while and become home to a colony of birds.
