Considering the recent discussion of N scale K4s, I thought I would share.  Right now there are several PSC brass PRR K4s on eBay along with a bunch of Minitrix ones, including one done up really nicely by a guy named Jimi Banks who used to do some very nice N scale Pennsy.

They're out there; you just need some cash and some smart friends to make 'em go.

Wow! to all of you involved from tuning the engine to making the snappy video.  I would love to see it creep by to appreciate the engine detail.   Thanks for sharing.

Dave, I grabbed a minitrix k-4 off ebay awhile back, then sent it out to Caboose Hobbies for installation of the decoder, new led headlights and micro trains couplers. I hope I get it back real soon.

I've got a couple cars from Jimmy Banks over the years.  Think he used to live in Pittsburgh but moved South. 

I've got one of the old Minitrix K4s in my stash but it is a non runner.  Also have one which was converted to a 2-8-2 which I never finished. 

Too bad the brass K4 we spied at the last N convention was cash only.  Would have liked to have gotten that one.

It's not much of a creeper just yet...  Then again, K4s had those 80" drivers for speed.  I can play with the CVs and make her a little smoother on the speed curve, but she doesn't care for the insulated frogs on the older half of the Juniata Division.  She will creep well through Enola, though, as I've powered all the frogs there.  For detail pics, watch the forum header photo.  At some point a creepy pair of eyes will peer at you from behind glasses and a brass K4.  That's the one (and yours truly).

I know I like to stir you Dave about you penchant for things blue but this model is a great effort.

There have been a number of recent articles both on the forums and in the N-trak Compendium on doing things with the brass and Minitrix K4s. Guys like Max Magliaro and John Lemonsteam have done wonders with the Minitrix versions. I have not made up my mind which re-powering version I will use but they are both great. I know I will be doing some work on the flanges so I am going to make a flange profile tool to cut them down.

Eric 220 has shown his Max modified K4 pulling 28 pass cars. A great thread to stir the blood.

I love Conrail, but not even a grizzled set of blue SD40-2s or a grinning SD80MAC will ever, ever get my blood up like a K4 (or three) rocketing a train of Tuscan heavywights through central Pennsylvania.  Now I finally have that on my layout.  Sorry, Ed!

Good luck on whichever route you choose.
