I must profess my ignorance where switch machines are concerned. What exactly is the prototype? When would these have been installed?

The little guy pictured above is a ground throw. It's the prototype equivalent of a manual switch. These would be found on industrial spurs, shortlines, and wherever powered switch machines aren't used.
 


The new release from NZT represents a powered switch machine like this one:



These will be found on any railroad with CTC. These days they're often under the control of someone at the other end of the continent.

Now this is exciting!  I'm thinking of all the possibilities on my new branch line.  And, as much as I hope it could incorporate physical turnout/power routing control within the stand, it may just be enough to help disguise the mini slide switches.

Whats the estimated time of delievery?   I need about 20 of them!
