I'm not touching that one with a ten foot anything.

In between trips to the doc and preop testing for surgery on the 10th, I tinkered together a little set of building flats for the back corner of the G&D.
 


They're lit using a Miller Engineering electroluminescent panel.

Train related: Put my SW15 back together, but lost the DH163IP I had for it. Thanks to DKS's post on the camera thread regarding 0402 and 0201 LED, I had a better idea for the beacon that my previous one. Played with my F45 until a wire broke, now I need a decoder for it too...

Non-train related: Getting stuff together to file a police report agains 3 or 4 ex-coworkers. Drag racing and finding out my traction-loc is wore out.

I had a fairly productive week working on my Boston Harbor scene. I finished up my tug boat (at 40+ hours). and scratch built my carfloat lift bridge structure. The cables are not in the final places yet, but I think it looks good and is the scene I wanted to depict.

Extremely good-looking building.  The light panel is interesting.  In connection with that, wouldn't early 20th century lighting be more yellow, and more localized within the various rooms?  You might use some sort of color filter and light masking over the panel.

Thanks. I did use a warming filter--two of them, in fact; if I'd added any more, the light would start getting too dim. It also looks a bit warmer in person than in the photo. As for localization effects, it wasn't something I was too worried about given that the structures are at the back of the layout and behind a row of trees.

No modelling once again, but I did take delivery last week of a 10x20 garage:



Should be plenty of room for a layout in there, eh?   :-\  But after a year and a half of uncertainty about whether we'd move, then planning the move, then being in a rental, it's great to have a permanent layout space again.

This past week I started my CN GP40-2 detail project that I first talked about in the 'Need Loco Help' posting.  I have all of the grab irons removed and replaced on the shell, removed/replaced the lift rings, opened the rear cab door, drilled out the molded fan detail to install aftermarket fans, and began work on the front and rear plow area.  My paints should arrive on Monday, and hopefully by the end of the week I'll be ready to move onto that phase.

The photos aren't the best, found it's difficult to take pics of gray plastic shells against a white and gray background, but hopefully you can get an idea.

I bet CNNA... CN had no GP40-2's of it's own, just the ones inherited from the GTW (DT&I). Can't recall any getting into the current scheme.
