I didn't get a chance to bring one home for pictures today but first impression is very good. I will try to bring one home from the shop tomorrow to take pictures.

It's a pretty good looking car at a ecent price. First impressions were that the car had good weight, printing is pretty sharp also. Price is decent also.

To me it looks somewhat crude, almost 1970s, compared to the current crop of new models being released.

Being several thousand miles away and unfamiliar with the prototype may be clouding my judgement

We are talking about Walthers here, ya know.  Finer details could be done if someone wants them with available grab irons, stirrups, brass structural pieces, etc.  Body-mounted couplers (Z-scale) would help fix the coupler problem.  If I were modeling modern I would pop for some without a doubt... too bad I am not modeling modern.

Its about the same level as the Atlas FGE car, maybe a bit better than Trainman. Cheap is good, I need about 20 for the NHNBoston Sand & Gravel train.

Anyone know if these ran in Florida rock trains? They look like they might fit right into an southeastern setting.

To new for me but I'm always happy when Walthers does something new in N.  Hope it sells and maybe they will do more models.

I think for me, the trucks are the worst looking part of the model.  Sure the rest of the tooling is a little on the clunky side, but good trucks and couplers will go a long way.

Well to each his own but from what I see these cars are over priced when compared to other manufacturers' offerings.  The car is $17.95 at full retail.  Pricewise that puts it in the league with the BLMA TOPGON which is $19.95.  Yet it has none of the finer detailing that the BLMA car has.  It is more on the level of the Atlas 90 ton hopper which at full retail is now $12.95.  BLW is discounting these cars to $12.59 while the BLMA TOPGON is $14.25  and the Atlas 90 ton is $8.48.

Yup, I think your right. Should be a good stand in for their Tru Mix cars.
I know of a couple other members that will be getting them also.

Wow, I didn't realize they were that pricey. In that case, I'll wait until they hit the bargain bins, they're not top shelf quality.
