Looking for really small styrene rod

I found some styrene rod a few years ago at a flea market. It was .005" and .01" thick. I can't find it anywhere now. Anyone have any ideas?

The size you listed must be all but invisible ;D

This is the closest I could find:

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

As mentioned above, Plastruct offers .010" rod. - http://plastruct.com/Pages/OnlineCatalogIndex.lasso

.005" is even hard to find in wire, let alone styrene. .005" styrene would melt and disapear soon as you tried to glue it.

Tichy offers .008" PB wire and Ngineering offers .006" stainless wire.

Small-Parts also offers .005" diameter stainless steel wire.  I don't recall ever seeing .005" diameter styrene rod.  The smallest I've come across is the .010" diameter Plastruct product that Tony mentioned.

I'd have to imagine that something that thin would be awfully hard to work with.  I mean, applying a solvent glue to it would quickly spell its demise!

You can easily stretch a scrap piece of styrene sprue (or a larger rod) down to the thickness of a human hair. Simply hold it a few inches over a lit candle and pull it apart when it gets soft. Have done it before for various projects, mainly antennas on 1/48 aircraft.  Takes a little practice to get consistent results but it's a cheap (or free) alternative.

Forgot to add that you can control the thickness of the stretched sprue by how soft you let it get and by pulling it apart faster or slower. With practice you can get 12"+ lengths of uniform diameter.
