I'm getting to the point where I don't want to post cause Richie makes me wanna cry.........

That said ..."curse you Red Baron".............. I'll best you yet......................but not this week.........

Not much this week; I foobied a GN caboose.... with my new GN power I wanted to run a long freight and when I pulled out the MT wooden van I had (I busted my BSB center cup van last year) it looked....well, crappy. It was poorly painted and detailed (which is to say, it was a stock MT)

So; with nothing but the decals and tools at hand I foobied a new GN caboose. The van is nearly correct in size and layout for the X 230 series except for the missing second window on each end and the reversed roof ladders. The GN logo is 20% oversized and the van should have the slogan on it BUT as this is the lead car in it's series my theory is that this is a transitional scheme that will be replaced (when new decals arrive).............

What the hey, it's my world...........

With the new roof line (cut back the roof overhang near the cupola) stand alone grabs, marker lamps and paint job it looks ok....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Pud, I agree.  That work is something else.

this pic is sweet! Drop some FVM's in that rolling stock and yer' dun!

for me, it was a chuck-pac of GP-7's and drop-in's to expand the High Speed Service motive power fleet, as well as some finishing off of benchwork for STAGING with another level on top for an operational passenger yard and room for eventual expansion onward and upward.  Oh yeah, car card and waybill work continues as well as minor scenic piddling around when I need a change.

Plans for this week include installing switch machines, crossovers, and fixing a switch or two before Friday.

Yep....... the hard part of living north of the great 48 (well; one of the hard parts, the other is paying way....way too much for a fifth of JD.....) is the lag time we get ordering FWM wheels, either direct or via the LHS......alas, through the snow, ice and cold we do our best to model N scale and cause Lee pain.... a noble cause if there was ever one...................

Got the doors done on my Walther's baggage.  Heven't decided yet how much detail to put into this car.  Probably just replace the roof grabs, but ya' never know.

The campaign to move outstanding projects towards completion continues.  During this past week I focused on installation of the final details for MLW C-630M 701, including fuel filler pipes, vacuum pipes for the air reservoirs, new handrails, carbody grab irons, brake wheel and stand, spark arrestor plate, window wipers, wind deflectors, cab sunshades, bell, horn, and antennas.  Here is the assembled model:

This model is now ready for paint and decals.  I also applied decals to a diesel fuel tank car for outfit service:

This car is now ready for substantial weathering and a final seal coat.

I scratchbuilt this Z scale version of John Allen's viaduct on his G&D.

It's all cast resin, made from three masters.

No pictures for me but I made a large purchase of AC plywood for subroadbed at Lowes as well as hardboard for the straight backdrop portions of the layout. Going to the WGH show in Edison in a few minutes so we'll see what I might be able to snag when I get there,

No pics - but I spent a good part of the weekend working out the tracks for the steel mill complex - I have to fit in a rolling mill, BOF, coke works, and a blast furnace. Bernie's book is coming in pretty handy.

I can do a high line, but I wish I had planned the rest of the layout better to include a port area with the ability to unload ore from a ship ..

And you can't take out something already in existence why exactly?
