A few from St. Denis on Presidents Day below. Next week, I should have some western goodies as on late Saturday afternoon, I leave for Seattle aboard the Capitol Limited/Empire Builder for my 3rd time and will probably railfan Edmonds and South Seattle again while I am out there.

1) CSX ES44DC GEVO No. 5396 leads CSX empty ethanol train, K497, westbound on the Old Main Line in St. Denis, Maryland on 21 February 2011. (with my car stage left  ;D )

2) CSX AC6000CW No. 691 leads CSX manifest freight train, Q410, eastbound on the Capital Subdivision in St. Denis, Maryland on 21 February 2011.

Q439 had a nice surprise in its mix: the DOW Safety Train.

Check out my website (listed under the web tag) for railfanning pictures from 32 states, D.C., and Ontario. Current locomotive count: 5772!

Hey Jeffery,
When you are in Seattle, if you happen to get to the Interbay yard north of downtown, there should be a pretty good dead line.  Last year when I was out there, there were all sorts of SD's in all sorts of BNSF predecessor schemes.  There's also an extant and functioning turn table - though what's left of the roundhouse was sheathed in bad aluminim siding.

I've trotted these out before...  I rescanned them and did a little enhancement.  Still not great, but historic nonetheless.

in 1991 or so, for the filming of the Barry Levinson film "Avalon", GG1 4890, which had been entombed at the B&O museum, was given a face lift, but only on one side, then dragged over to Baltimore Penn Station so it could be shoved into the platforms for a period scene.

This is the side that appeared in the film, with the large herald and big letters over the single stripe on DGLE

This is the 5 stripe side that the museum had painted.  Note the dingy glass.  I'm still kicking myself that I didn't make it over to Penn Station to shoot it under wires.

Yeah, last year when I went through the yard, I was lucky enough to be on the locomotive servicing and dead-line side of the train and got some nice pictures.

Ooh, Lee's not going to like the photographer's "remarks" under that picture.  I love the F-unit, though.
