At a recent swap meet, these very same plastic framed LifeLike locos were selling for $5-8 each by the bushelbasket full.  Incredible. but this is what they are worth now.......

If those remaining diesels haven't frozen up yet because of the Lifelike white grease in the worm boxes, they are generally a decent runner but nothing NEAR the price for this one.  The seller is humming a tune for sure.......

What are you missing about this auction? Why, the chance to by an old Lifelike locomotive for over $200. Who else can make that claim?  ::)

Clearly the KCS is a uber hot livery because "bubba" is only (and I can't believe I said "only") getting about $ 40.00 for a Boston & Maine E unit and $ 29.00 for a pair of NYC E units...........

Awwwww man.  S****O (37) increased his bid before the end.

Thus he REALLY wanted it.  So if  n***a (507) had bid again it would have gone wwoooooohhooooo even higher!

Too bad the fireworks are over.

Whenever I see this kind of foolishness, and assuming it's legit (no shill), I always wonder if this guy actually intends on paying?  Bidding is one thing but paying is another.

About 4-5 years ago when I started accumulating my B&O rolling stock from Ebay auctions, I ran up against a guy like one of these two. I couldn't win an auction for anything. A few times I tested the waters just to see how high this guy would go and it was well beyond what I thought was reasonable. I ran a plain jane MTL B&O box over $50 one day and he still had the winning bid. I didn't want to chance going any farther and actually having to buy it myself at that price. He lasted about 4 months and then disapeared. After that, I picked up the same boxcar for $12.00. He was buying so much that people were noticing and more and more B&O started showing up. After he disapeared, there was a glut of B&O stuff for auction, prices tanked and I took advantage. I have a feeling it was somebody contracted to build a layout where money was not an option and he had to get it done in a specific time frame.
