New run of SW's from Walthers - Now DCC ready and include MT Couplers

Just got March announcements from Walthers and they are re-running the SW's with a new DCC friendly frame and Microtrains couplers.

First roads will be:

CN
CNW
CBQ - Everywhere West
NYC

Replacing those stupid out-of-round plastic worms would be the other single greatest improvement they could make to an otherwise decent switcher.

That's not a bad MSRP...  Street will be around $70, and the DCC frame will probably lead to huge early sales as guys go to upgrade those old ones.
I wonder if the shell will be interchangeable, and what kind of decoder it will take...  And wouldn't it be something if they could keep up with the Atlas and Katos, and have a working cab headlight.

Can anyone tell me what paint scheme the CN unit is. Can't seem to find any info on
Walthers site.

Watching  
and waiting for further news on this.  Still a manufacturer can grab all that attention (and coinage) away quite easily with a SP specific SW1500.  A revised SW1200 mechanisim will still be most welcome, but without UNDECORATED the old body is far less interesting...

this could be an "oh buggeration" moment for me as I need SW frames to run Aussie locos on and can't afford what will be $120-$150 AUD or it could be a salavatingly awesome moment as all those original SW's make their way to the second hand tables for $50

I can sort of see how they would change the electrical wipers (if they did) to frame lenths leaf springs, but I still can't figure out where the DCC board would go. In the cab? Will this be a wire job? Maybe they are going to use somthing like Kato's NW2 DCC board.

Maybe they'll go the FVM route with a board and a plug in for a DZ145IP decoder.

That's good news. Not really thrilled with the road names, but the DCC upgrade and the MSRP is good.

Artwork has it in the black switcher scheme... from the Green and Gold era. My wallet is safe on this one.
