From a few winters ago... CP branchline job in the midst of a really great blizzard. Best chase of my life!

Repeat only because it's a snow scene and every now and then you need a little PC love.

Don't remember if I posted these or not, but I shot these when I rolled up to Spencer a month ago:

Original NS MOW:

And then, the day after Christmas it snowed in eastern NC.  I was back home in Carteret County, and I caught this going through my home town of Newport:

I know the white balance is whack, but as these are the only two shots I have ever seen of trains running in the snow in my home town, I'm keeping them.

Then, on my way back home, I caught this:

The thing is, these last shots were taken a couple of days after the snow fell; it's unusual for snow to linger like that around here.  What's really odd is that it's snowed like this three years in a row now, whereas we used to get snow every five years or so.

I went out fanning with friends yesterday, and caught a good amount of traffic- 3 locals, intermodal, and a mixed freight.

FI-2 in the last light of day.

NMSE later that night.

if you can't conduct yourself, conduct freight

In the Feb issue of MR on page 20 there is a photo from the top of P&LE's Gateway hump tower. I was there earlier this year and took photos from the same spot:
