HO Weekend Update 12/19/10

We had company Christmas parties Thursday and Saturday nights, dinner with our best friends Friday night, and our church Cantata at todays worship service.

Other than that, was able to sprinkle in some railroad work. I pulled the Digitrax Super Empire DB150 out and ran a 14g bus underneath the existing benchwork, and soldered some feeders to about 1/3 of the track. Also installed Digitrax decoders in both GP35's and the SW1500; although I'm having some light issues with the SW1500, hoping to get them fixed before too long.

The shortline is around three walls so far, with an island extension and hinged plate in the near future planned for continuous run options.

Also got some 91% alcohol and dropped the Frisco GP38-2 shell into the alcohol to start removing the paint. The Frisco and SP GP38-2's are going to be the first repaints to the Arkansas Midland RR scheme.

About all that has been done here for the weekend.

Iphone doesn't take that great of pictures, but here are the three engines that had decoders installed over the weekend.

Say Jeff that is a great paint-peel effect --- is that using rubber cement/maskol?

Have you thought about adding the A-Line see-thru steps?  I'm not sure they have them specifically for the GP38-2s,  but sometimes they can be adapted.  Every time I look at a loco with these it always makes it worth the effort :)

Wow, I gotta check in here more often. That's some awesome CR modeling.

As long as you're not slapping NS or CSX patches on them, we'd love to have an article about each for the CRHS (hint, hint Ian...).

IAN!

Yes, the key word is "FINALLY". One of the locos I bought from you is on top. The
one on the bottom started as an undecorated unit. The two I got from you are
being patched (one NS / one CSX) because I don't have to fade the paint as much.
For the HLCX engine, the fade was so drastic, I had to start from scratch. I'll finish
them all next year some time!!

Jeff,

You captured that effect nicely. Thats how our 2 old SD40s look that I run. Now if you dont mind, what color did you use?
