They got um listed.  New paint on SD50 and RS11.  This one I'm tempted to get:

I said it on the AForum and I will say it here.  I just don't understand the difference in MSRP say between a U30C and an RS11.  20 bucks is a bit of a stretch for me to understand.  I think Atlas needs to come down in price just a bit.

Fine scaleness of the details....Handrails, cut levers, etc. Atlas has much finer detail in these areas.

It's simple, the Atlas will more than likely be painted correctly in an acceptable manner. The Kato won't be up to par if it is like their recent releases. Pay a little more upfront for the Atlas or pay somebody to paint the Kato correctly later.

I will have to take a look.  Isn't this the same as my RS-11 in NP from around 2005?  Based on the SD45 I am not seeing that amount difference.  I will have to go down stairs and take a close look.  I guess the long and the short of my issue is, is that Kato has done a good job of keeping control of prices while Atlas prices just keep climbing.  Atlas needs to find a way to get prices more in line with Kato, their main compitition.  One man's opinion worth what you paid for it. :

Outside of the dumb sign you have to tape on the BSB units I see the same basic quality when I look at either make of engine.  Maybe I just have bad eyes,  but my eye doctor says I am fine.................MAybe it is the era I am modeling also.  I don't have any exposure to the modern stuff as I don't own anything newer than 1970.

I see the HO guys are getting a re-release of the PHII U30-B.  I wish they would offer those in N Scale. :'(

Atlas usually does their homework on paint schemes and lettering nuances.

Kato however manages to screw up on the handful of schemes that they put out, and the execution often is not so great (as noted above).

But as alluded to above, North America is a small side project for Kato, whereas North America is Atlas' primary target.
