More SP SW1500 Fun/Madness (Updated 2/3/16)

Work has started on another SP SW1500 kitbash, seen here next to the 2596....

Also, I've added a Richmond Controls lighting module to the 2596, including working gyralights. Very bright and cool looking!....

Other work done to the 2596 was the addition of a visor over the lights on the rear of the cab along with the addition of a roof vent and a rooftop antenna....

Wow, looking great Russ!

Why don't we have R-T-R SW1500s yet?

Good to see some work on the RIGHT railroad  ;D  A bit new for my layout, but nice job on the finish and the light install.  The 1500 would make a great RTR!

All that, and street running too.  Great work Russ!

How do those lights look in person?  Does it seem about right, or too bright?  It looks great in the photo.

Thanks for the comments! ;D

Gary, the brightness of the lights looks just right, although it makes all the stock lights on everything else seem too dim by comparison. :-[

In her later years, she had speed lettering and the roster shows her as an SSW unit before that. Cool, not she's the right SP!

Thanks for the picture, Chuck! I knew about the new paint job with speed lettering but I did not know about the SSW heritage.

Started a 3rd SW1500 kitbash (right). This one will be in the 2400 series (probably 2469) and has the non-recessed gyralights. The middle unit will be in the 2600 series (probably 2679)....

Bringing back the SP light show....one N scale model at a time. SW1500's on the left, MP15AC on the right....

oh man, that is HOT! I'm starting to fall in love with the SW1500; there's one in town being leased by the new operator of the line in town

After a pretty long break, I decided to push on with finishing my latest SW1500 kitbashes. Since my last posting, I started two more units (one pictured here and one LLPX unit) and shortened all of them about a scale 6", including the finished unit. The 2596 has also since been converted to DCC.

Here are 3 shells painted up and weathered...

That's some fine detail work, Russ! I wish I still had the patience (and coordination) to do that.

Hmm... the secret to
keeping one's coordination
is to play the banjo...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
