Big News from NTS!!!!

Now this is surprising....  The NMRA has unveiled a brand new logo!  It's expected that this logo will make a big difference and increase interest in the hobby.



In other news, Walthers was serving some REALLY nice snacks in their private car.  They said something about what they were planning to do, but I can't repeat it here.

Out on the show floor there were a lot of little train things announced, but we didn't actually take any notes or pictures.  No doubt you'll hear more about them in the upcoming months.

There's not many people in the world who see more freight car wheels in a given day than I do, and that's not what I initially saw when I looked at the logo.  Didn't see a breast either for that matter, but now I will everytime I see it.   It just looked like some concentric arcs to me, I wasn't really thinking it was supposed to look like anything.

that for the first time I am actually tempted to give money to the NMRA.  Lots of singles in my wallet, check.  But, then I think about current NMRA memers in a g-string and run screaming into the night...

From what I understand, this is only part of the NMRA's attempt to become more modern and more relevant, and that they're admitting that they've become rather old fashioned and had diminishing relevance.

Admitting that is the first step in the process, and it looks like they're working to address that. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here.

And one more think, Lou, I think you really need to cut people some slack here.

We're mainly getting reports from people who are there to enjoy themselves, and are sharing their observations with us as a favor (not a service).

It's disappointing the hobby press isn't doing a better job providing coverage, but the question there is, would you pay for said coverage? If not, well, then I think this is as good as we'll ever get, especially if the hands that are feeding are constantly being bitten.

Ed - you're right - but I was actually poking fun at the Model Railroad News or whatever it's called.  They're apparently having a lot of fun, but they supposedly were going to be reporting what is happening.  I think they posted more photos of the Walthers snack bar than the show itself.

Since they get ads (surprisingly), they must be doing this for some reason other than entertainment...
